Reduce eligible NSW fine debt through approved activities
A Work and Development Order (WDO) allows eligible people experiencing hardship to reduce their NSW fine debt by completing approved activities.
These activities can include education and vocational training, unpaid work, counselling, treatment, mentoring and other approved support activities.

Who may be eligible?
A WDO may be available to people experiencing hardship, including people who are:
- experiencing acute financial hardship
- homeless
- living with a mental illness
- living with an intellectual disability or cognitive impairment
- experiencing a serious drug, alcohol or substance addiction
Eligibility requirements apply and each person’s circumstances need to be considered.
How can training help?
Education and vocational training can be recognised as approved WDO activities.
Where training is approved as part of a WDO, eligible training hours may contribute towards reducing NSW fine debt while also helping participants build practical skills and work towards future employment opportunities.
Approved educational and vocational training is credited at $50 per hour, with total WDO credits of up to $1,000 per month.

If you work with Workforce Australia, employment services or community organisations and have a client who may benefit from a WDO, we would be happy to discuss available training options.
A WDO may help an eligible participant address fine debt while gaining new skills and working towards employment.
